Who we are

The Penn Manor Marching Unit allows students their first experience in an ensemble and installs the fundamentals of the “Comet Way”.

Any student can be a part of the PMMU and EVERYONE finds a place to take part. There are no auditions. The ensemble meets from mid-May to mid-November each year. Marching Unit rehearsals begin in the middle of May.

Participation in Marching Band is open to all dedicated students grades 8 - 12.  The Penn Manor Marching Unit proudly performs at:

  • Marching band competitions and exhibitions
  • PMHS football games (home, away, and playoffs)
  • Parades and performances both in-state and out-of-state
  • School events
  • Community events

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attendance at Marching Band Camp is MANDATORY! Normally held the first three weeks of August (Monday-Thursday), please consider this when planning your summer vacation.
  • After summer camp, Marching Band meets in the fall and ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES, with few emergency exceptions.
  • Marching Band members also attend summer rehearsals in June and July - though not mandatory, if you are in town you are STRONGLY urged to attend.
  • Marching requires its members to be in good physical health, given the strenuous physical activity students will be asked to perform.  Prior to and during ALL practices and performances, students will stretch and exercise.
  • Members are provided a Marching Band uniform, as well as percussion instruments and other percussion equipment.  Other instruments along with additional items ARE required to be purchased by the member, including, but not limited to shoes, gloves, and a marching band show shirt.
  • Any additional information or instruction will be given by the band director.
  • The PMHS discipline policy is in effect at all marching band functions, both in school AND outside of school.
